Profile new member of the Supervisory Board

Selection Criteria

  • The candidate is familiar with the ins and outs of managing a large (international), complex matrix organization, including corporate governance, business ethics and has a clear insight into interrelations.
  • The ideal candidate acts as a sparring partner and counselor of the Works Council, i.e. is well approachable, can reflect on the ways of working of the Works Council and acknowledges the Works Council as an important internal stakeholder. 
  • Successful in building and maintaining solid working relations with works councils (in The Netherlands.
  • Experience with organizational change, transformation processes and culture change processes within large organizations with a highly educated population.
  • Background in human resource management and organizational development, talent management and succession planning.
  • Experience in or knowledge of the international pharmaceutical industry.  
  • Experience in the foreign markets in which Astellas  operates.
  • Experience as a member of international supervisory boards, preferably as a board member nominated by the Works Council.
  • Understands the position of the supervisory board member of one of the divisions of a global organization.
  • Proficiency of Business English.
  • Ability to work in a cultural diverse setting.
  • An outstanding reputation and unimpeachable conduct.

Competences

  • Solid analytical, conceptual and strategic skills with the ability to quickly grasp the essentials of the Astellas business.
  • Is wise, energetic, committed, empathic and pleasant to work with.
  • Ability to encourage an open debate, seeking opinions of others and aiming at a sense of shared responsibility.
  • Is able to strike the right balance between supervision, sparring partnership and acting as a trusted liaison for fellow board members and the (Central) Works Council, both internally and externally.
